Good news, everyone!

I now have a job for the fall! I'll be teaching at CSU Channel Islands in Camarillo. The process went pretty quickly; I submitted my application last Tuesday, on Wednesday set up the interview, and on Thursday talked with the chair and a few other people and was offered the job. The position is officially part-time, but the department will be

Hmmm, I applied for a job there. Then in Atlanta I met a guy from there who told me the chair already had one specific person in mind for the job. I didn't get it, even got an email about "we hired someone else, good luck finding another job.... SUCKER!!!!" But, I guess they found out all last-second-like that they needed someone else. I mean, sounds like you got a temporary position, not the same job I was applying for.

Well, congrats! Must be a huge relief! You can stay pretty close to UCSB and still go back for seminars or to talk with Mihai. That's pretty nice. :-)

Thanks :) It is a huge relief. The person who they hired for the tenure track position also got her Ph.D. at UCSB. This was a while ago - even before your time here.

It definitely is a good thing to be close. I'll have to prepare my dissertation for publication, and being this close to Mihai will help.
