Oh God, they need smiting. I got Asimov's autobiography out and some kind soul had written IN INK all over the first chapter GIVING DEFINITIONS OF ANY WORDS HE/SHE THOUGHT MIGHT BE PROBLEMATIC FOR A LESS CLEVER READER THAN THEM.

The irony was that most were pretty basic words.
