His parents, though joined in matrimony partially for political reasons (Konohamaru's mother also came from a well-known, wealthy family), deeply loved each other and their only son.
Having both grown up to appreciate material, Konohamaru's parents showed him love by getting him whatever he desired and more, though they didn't joke around when they punished him, so Konohamaru had a strong sense of right and wrong from the time he was a child. Also, being that his mother was an international model, she was a jet-setter and often brought Konohamaru along with her (and the nanny, of course). He has been all over the world, and knows places like London, Paris, Milan, Tokyo, and other fashion capitals elsewhere, very well since he's been to them several times each.
Home base was in New York City, however. Konohamaru went to private school since pre-k, growing up with many of the same children from other influential families throughout the years. There was a brief stint when he was nine when his mother took him and homeschooled him (not herself, but a tutor), settling in Hong Kong for almost a year when she and her husband were having marital problems. Working them out, whatever they were (Konohamaru didn't know), he and his mother moved back to New York and Konohamaru was placed back in school, greeted by familiar faces.
Shortly after Konohamaru turned eleven, his parents went on a routine business trip for his father's work. They would only be gone four days, and Konohamaru had his nanny to watch him and make sure he got to school. A day after they left, the nanny was notified that Konohamaru's parents never made it to the conference they were going to, and that their private jet had gone down for reasons they were unable to identify as of yet. It turned out something had malfunctioned within the jet itself, sending the machine out of control before it crashed into a field only an hour after it had taken off.
Understandably, after that day Konohamaru's life changed. After a family debate over what to do with him, he was sent to live with his father's brother, Asuma, who claimed guardianship of him. Konohamaru hadn't known Asuma very well at that point, as he hadn't been in New York, and he hadn't heard too many great things about him, as it seemed the brothers hadn't had the best relationship. However, Konohamaru wasn't in the state of mind to be picky, and eventually decided he liked his uncle very much; Asuma was laid back and cooked well, and it comforted Konohamaru to be with a family member. He was sure his father would look differently at his older brother could he see Asuma after his death.
Following in family footsteps, Konohamaru enrolled in Sinclair Academy when he entered Freshman year of high school, immediately finding interest in the host club his uncle advised. He didn't make it as a member, though he looked up to the hosts and the president in particular, pledging his allegiance to Madara. Konohamaru made himself available for the club's needs, looking to make a name for himself among the most influential people who hung out at the club.
Appearance
Konohamaru is of mixed descent, but his Asian features are what shine through. He is satisfied with his looks and doesn't worry much about them because he knows as long as he puts effort into cleaning himself up he'll look fine. Influenced by his mother, Konohamaru tends to always look acceptable, except possibly when he's in for the night at home and he takes a shower, climbing into some pajamas afterward. Then he won't worry about styling his hair and will merely towel-dry it, but at all other times he does look primped, even if it's a tousled style he's sporting.
To go with his good hygiene and hair care, he dresses smartly. Nothing too fancy unless the situation calls for it, but he has a wholesome style that is appropriate for a teenager, yet is more clean-cut and acceptable for a young man who wants to go places. He will follow dress codes when they are enforced, usually without a complaint unless it's something crazy for the Host Club that he is forced to wear, but even then clothing doesn't much bother him. After all, it's just clothing.
Overall, he is fit and makes sure to take care of his skin. That he doesn't get stressed out easily tends to help him avoid breakouts, but there are times when he just can't help it. He will swear to follow people who he finds impressive, and if anyone jeopardizes them he will fight his hardest to take care of it, but if he finds even someone he idolizes acting like a moron, he won't turn a blind eye to it: he'll say "You're being a moron." In part, that trait comes from his tremendous bravery. There are certainly things and people that Konohamaru fear, but even fear can't keep him from doing what he feels is right. More than anything, Konohamaru is loyal to himself, though that isn't to say he won't put himself in danger for another, because he will if he thinks it's worth it. There is a bit of a selfless quality in him, but it doesn't come out overly much; only when he feels compelled to believe sacrificing himself will be worth it in the long run. (For example, he might take the role in an ugly rumor instead of one of the important members of the Host Club getting their name tarnished.)
With his devotion comes a sort of sneakiness, however. Konohamaru often has some kind of agenda, and many of the things he does, be it sacrificing or being loyal, has a payoff for himself. Getting on the President of the Host Club's good side has obvious rewards, and his motivations can be selfish, though that doesn't mean he's out to stab anyone in the back. He's a truly good person, but he isn't content with being normal or run-of-the-mill. He wants to be great, and he knows he can't spend his time rescuing cats from trees and walking old ladies across streets. As noble as that lifestyle would be, it wouldn't give him the kind of power and status he wants.

He likes playing all kinds of sports, from solitary distance running to team sports. He is on Sinclair Academy's freshman baseball team and pitches, but otherwise he plays sports informally. Baseball isn't even that important to him (though he does watch games and enjoys the sport), meaning he doesn't have any grand plans of playing professionally, but plays only for the love of the game.
Like any kid of his generation, he can figure out any electronic device pretty well, but he isn't an expert by any means. If his laptop breaks he's giving it to someone who knows what they're doing to fix it. He only really uses the computer to talk to friends, do homework, and illegally download porn. For games, he sticks with consoles and usually sticks to shooters and survival horror games, not having the patience for RPGs (heaven forbid they are turn-based) unless he's watching someone else play them.
