If you were allowed to go back to where you came from, but told all your memory of this place would be lost and you'd go back to your life like none of this ever happened-
It's... well, people need help here. And they needed help home, too. I can't say who needs it more, but... I just dunno if I'm better off goin' home, where I could... do something about it.
Well, I'm really not fond of staying in one place for terribly long, I'm afraid. So naturally, I wouldn't mind the chance to leave. But taking away your memories is on par with taking away what makes you...well, you. It's practically the same as killing you - a part of you, at least. S'pose I might still choose to leave, since I'm, well, needed elsewhere, but I imagine it would be a nearly impossible decision for anyone else to make.
Much as I'd love to see my friends at home, I'm not sure if I could ever go back.
Besides, you know, Buddhist monks usually hope to be reincarnated into a post-apocalyptic catastrophe, instead of a paradise. This is so that they can carry out their work, because otherwise their life ceases meaning.
I'd like to think I can do some good for people here.
