Dragon Con

Jan 20, 2010 02:14

Kim, you did this.

If you didn't see the announcement, there will be "NO" on site registration for Dragon Con. This should eliminate a lot of trash that attends dragon con. I'm talk'n football fans and the Nascar fans. Last year was a mess with all the football jocks mixed in with the already crowded mass of nerds.

Also ALL the hotels are SOLD OUT ( Read more... )

Wait - there's no onsite registration this year?

Could you post a link ? I totally missed this! (not that we do OSR but I have friends who do...and usually get through the line in a quarter of the time!)

No word yet but it seems this is up for consideration for this year and/or after.

They also added the Westin to the Convention Hotels ( I stayed there once, not impressed enough to care about the addition to the night party hotel)

My friend got a room at another hotel that is not to far from the con. This year is not looking too good for me thanks to the economy so I could'nt get it. I hope to see you and spider again I am crossing my fingers if I can go this year cuz you 2 rock!!! Hell I might have to punk out and Volunteer for the con in order to go.

Being on staff isn't terrible but it has its rewards :) I did it for 3 years and had some fun.

Wow, it's starting to sound like ComicCon.

You know, I like DragonCon, but I know D and I could definitely do without the Nascar junkies (wonder if my Dad would be in there somewhere..I would laugh my ass off because he is a Nascar fan and does travel to some of thsoe things) and the football jocks.

And now that I can't do Dawn either...well, there's little point anymore for D*C.

The Dawn Contest will always have its stinkers, unfortunately. I'm sure I got my fair share of bitch-glare when D and I entered too. I think you should be pretty darn proud of yourself and your efforts ;)

Yeah, I'm done with Dawn. I've entered and given my all only to just be told "your always best armor". Really? Last year I had very little armor, but still armor.

Plus just annoys me dealing with all the caty people back stage and the bonus was YAYA and her entourage. My wings got smacked around and bumped by photographers and staff who were all, "yaya this, yaya that".

It was annoying, by the end of the night my nice wings looked like a chicken caught in a fight with a cat.
I'm still pissed that I can't lay them out or fix the damage.

Dawn Contest left a sour taste in my mouth last year, all the talk about presentation and presence, whatever. Every year after the contest Eva and Joe come up with some excuses about this or that. I don't care. I won armor, I was happy. What makes me not happy is hearing you defend your choices when I didn't ask about it.

Bah, I know alot of people happy I'm not entering anymore. I'm not going to thing twice about it either.
I offically retire with my 3 wins as Best Armor.

You forgot your Best Original, lady! Or is my memory of 2005 failing me?

From what it looks like now, the no on site was a joke someone put up.

I got my room the day they went on sale for the Marriott through the passkey thing and when I called the Marriott to have them send me the conformation number it's all at the con rate.

The "No onsite" is actually being considered. Its no different than COMIC COn and Otakon. SOmetimes you just have to say,"NO" no matter the loss of funds / profit. Makes no difference since the funds collected are put back in to dragon con for the next year.

As far as I know the hotels have so many at the con rate, what I was told by Marriott was "PAsskey for con rate, which is sold out". Good thing I have a Passkey room reservation.

Last year was way to crowded for the space available. I felt like cows being herded to the slaughter.

I wasnt going to suggest Steampunk. I know how u stand with that fandom.

I Thought you were gonna do a trooper armor.. but in hot pink? Heh I bet tommys all "slave leia!". I cant wait to see yr rogue costume, shes my 2nd fav chara.

Ive got a room at a non con rate, but its only $20 more a day then con rate so thats not so bad. Currently theres possible 6 of us in the room, either way the rooms full. Just Scott needs to figure his own way to D*C cause it was to far for me and Mitch to drive. Plus this yr odds are dad wont let me use his car, so I'll be driving my lil thing.

My costumes are: steampunk (redone),Slytherin for the parade, Resident evil hive employee, there was something else but Im brainfarting. I figure only another 2 yrs for the parade, I love being int he parade but soon as the HP pull begins to wane Im moving on. I had my awsome memories.

Seriously if they give you crap again about the Harry Potter parade section, just walk away. Its not worth the fight anymore.

I havent had any issues from parade officals its non officals that sling the monkey crap.

Odds are soon as the last movie shows I might retire MM. >_> Im keeping the banners, Im not passing them onto Atlanta HP, they can kiss my pale ass.
