A few facts about Mothertree in Pastels.
First, this is my first pastel piece since 6th grade. It's also my first totally-original piece (the art teacher in that class made us copy off some templates of flowers). In about three months I'll look at this and hate it. I'm not that good with pastels, really - you can see why, I haven't quite gotten the techniques down - but I named this piece Mothertree for the woodlike texture of the woman's face and hand. I think it fits - especially if you see the flower as part of the tree..
I plan to do more art, believe me.
