thinking about changing comps topic to a Foucault+Dark Knight case study for a critique of our society and media.  I think I could use foucault to explain how dark knight's plot functions to maintain status quo in the film and in the real world.  Mixed in is the idea of media operating as the tower in the panopticon, always staring back at it's ( Read more... )

hmmm all your talk of Dark Knight makes me wish I were actually awake to watch it when we went to see it last week =\ It seems that there were a lot of interesting issues presented.

I fear that looking back on the present the same way that I look to my years as a little boy, my years in middle and highschool, leading up to the present. Too restrained by fear of immediate reprisal or the undermining of future opportunities or desires to either act out and fully enjoy life, or push it to some meaningful purpose. I feel that I have been constantly setting the stage for something important. I get that same feeling all the time. I know for a fact that I schedule far too much of my time and never leave room for spontaneous going with the flow, which is as part of life as anything else. But as I'm coming to realize, you can definitely change that if you really want to. In comparison to high school, I've gotten more chill about stuff. wasn't "Ikiru" written and shot right after the director tried to commit suicide?

anyways, I think the things that have moved you are legitimate. But, I think a lot of people deal with this--it's all apart of the human experience, you know?
