I remember that. It practically destroyed parts of Quebec. People were without heat and power for weeks in the middle of winter. It didn't hit Southern Ontario that badly, but we're situated funny and don't always get the brunt.
We were out of school for a month (my junior year of high school) because some of the kids in our district still didn't have power at their houses.
I seem to remember some of the local truck hauling companies driving over the border with all manner of broken trees and tree limbs so that our naighbors in Quebec at least had fire wood to burn to stay warm. And then there were the National Guardsmen showing up at the house...lol
We were really lucky. We have a pharmaceutical company here in town that depends on an uninterrupted power supply. So we were only without power for about eight hours on one evening. That was enough for me.
