I have a squad full of detectives. Each one of them brings something to MCS, and each one of them is needed. Yet, I'm using a certain four as examples.
I'm not by any means playing favorites here, because if I was, Goren and Logan really would not make the list. Okay, well..not before their better counterparts. But they are Goren and Eames and Logan and Wheeler. They are two of my teams. Now Logan and Wheeler were recently disrupted and that left me with Logan and Falacci. Wheeler's back, yes, but on desk duty. It still gives a presence of that team that I created. That Logan and Wheeler team. And while Goren has been...all colors of stability lately - I still have Goren and Eames. Four. Four, of many, that I can use as examples.
It amuses me the way my detectives look at me. The way they speak to me. I get the sense that they think I could care less. They see me as this man who has come in and issued demands and not seen logic. Wheeler gets it, I think. Or maybe she's just used to it? No, she doesn't always agree with me and my views, but I can see that she understands why I demand as I do. At times it seems Eames is coming around as well. Logan and Goren...I don't know. It's not a concern to me, truly. They can hate me.
The thing is...
I don't dislike any of them. Not those four, not anyone else in the squad (not even Falacci [much]). I respect them and I have faith that each one of my detectives can and will do their job. They will do their jobs and bring success to the best of their ability. I don't yell to be the loudest in the room. I don't call myself Captain as a demand of respect. I am not their friend, and will not act as such when they need a Captain the most.
I will be - Captain Danny Ross, Major Case Squad of the New York Police Department. I will take care of those enlisted under my watch, and I will push their best ability as high as I can get it. So no, I do not care what those four think of me, or what the whole squad thinks of me. That is how I do my job.
