The audio in Flash-based videos on websites (i.e. Youtube, Google Videos) will not work. The video streams fine, there's just no audio. This happens on both the newest versions of Firefox and Internet Explorer. [ETA] And Google Chrome. [/ETA]

My system sounds and sounds on other various applications work just fine, but not Flash.

Tried it, still no go. I think the problem is with the Flash, not the browser...:-/

Not sure, but applications sometimes use sound drivers which are incompatible or barely compatible with others. So I wouldn't uninstall Skype, but you should check your hardware settings for audio drivers and see where it is set. Most probably Skype installed a new audio driver and then set your system to use it. All you would have to do is set the audio driver to the one which is still there but not the one Skype is using. When you are ready to use Skype, set it to the one Skype prefers.

As I said, this is just a theory based on on application I use called TotalRecorder. In fact TR has the ability to change audio drivers within it. When TR is using the driver it prefers, the sound is choppy for other applications, so I only use the TR preferred driver when I am actually using TR.

Thanks, Byron! I'm not quite sure how to find out if Skype installed any new audio drivers, but I did go through the options/preferences in Skype and un-checked a box that allowed Skype to fix audio levels (if the mic is too loud during a call, etc.)

Still hasn't fixed it though :-/ Stupid Vista, blargh.
