So I was thinking about how gatekeeping logic says that bi people experience homophobia for their attraction to their own gender, ignoring the amount of "het"phobia they experience in the queer community due to their attraction to another gender, and the whole "no, what they're experiencing is biphobia because they're bi" argument, and I thought of ( Read more... )

Yeah, there's a big difference between "This prejudice is connected with this other prejudice" and "this prejudice merely a subset of this other prejudice." Like biphobia and homophobia are obviously related, but that doesn't make them the same. All apes are related, but that doesn't mean they'd let me live in the bonobo sanctuary.

And just because I face discrimination because I'm perceived as a woman, doesn't mean I get to say I'm facing misogyny. They're related, but it's not the same thing. So really gatekeepers can suck it.

I would let you live in a bonobo sanctuary.

And by the same "Biphobia is just homophobia" argument, homophobia could be dismissed as just sexism, because sexism is a factor, so if you're horribly oversimplifying, it's the only factor.

I still wish someone had mentioned that "professional bonobo-cuddler" is an actual job sooner.
