well you must understand that livejournal can't put out. stop expecting to get action from a website... it's totally impossible.
in all seriousness, i know what you mean. it always seems like updating and whatnot is going to keep you connected, and it's going to be this great emotional outlet, and it's going to get your point across to an audience that a private journal can't reach. but most of the time ends up making you feel the same, emptier, or infinitely more dorky.

sometimes it helps my writing other times it gets annoying cus it's so overwhelming to keep up with people's lives and when you've commented and blah blah blah
