The Grammys got it right this year. I’ve said all along that Kanye is incredible. I’ve said all along that Alicia is incredible. And who can deny the undeniable talent of Usher. It’s so blatant he can't do anything else except ooze talent.

Bids for song of the year - which goes to songwriters - went to "Daughters," written and recorded by John Mayer, "If I Ain't Got You," written and recorded by Keys, "Jesus Walks," recorded by West, "Live Like You Were Dying," recorded by Tim McGraw, and "The Reason," recorded by Hoobastank.

Usher and Alicia Keys, who collaborated on the hit "My Boo," followed West with eight nominations each, including album of the year for Keys' "The Diary of Alicia Keys" and Usher's "Confessions."

Record of the Year: "Let's Get It Started," The Black Eyed Peas; "Here We Go Again," Ray Charles and Norah Jones; "American Idiot," Green Day; "Heaven," Los Lonely Boys; "Yeah!" Usher featuring Lil Jon and Ludacris.

Album of the Year: "Genius Loves Company," Ray Charles and Various Artists; "American Idiot," Green Day; "The Diary of Alicia Keys," Alicia Keys; "Confessions," Usher; "The College Dropout," Kanye West.

Song of the Year: "Daughters," John Mayer (John Mayer); "If I Ain't Got You," Alicia Keys (Alicia Keys); "Jesus Walks," C. Smith and Kanye West (Kanye West); "Live Like You Were Dying," Tim Nichols and Craig Wiseman (Tim McGraw); "The Reason," Daniel Estrin and Douglas Robb (Hoobastank).

The only one I don’t particularly care for is “The Reason” - Hoobastank, and even with that said I still liked the song. Either I’m becoming old or the Grammys are finally catching up on their shit and recognizing talent. I mean, they usually do; Lauryn Hill, Norah Jones, and of course Christina over Britney, Outkast. But this year seems so exceptional. Kanye West received over ten nominations. Ten. Count them. Diez. Dix. Zehn. He deserves every. single. one. of them. Not only for his awesome voice and style, but because he was nominated in the Rap category and he didn’t have to rap about the typical bitches, ho’s, pimps, goin to the club and getting fucked up. I’ve loved Kanye since he debuted, big cheeks and all. “When It All Falls Down” was on repeat so many times last year, and I loved the lines of it. In my book, he’s attained the status of Incubus, John Mayer, Lauryn Hill, Nas, and my main girl Alicia. In fact, I was going to buy Christmas albums at Target, but instead I think I’ll buy Alicia’s first album. I love that girl. Green Day was also nominated, whom I also enjoy immensely. Even though their sound does get repetitive at times, the whole concept of their album was artistic. Now, given I’m not ‘up-to-date’ on all the latest scene music, but that’s not my style. I’m going to stay true to myself and what I like. Sure, they all have mass-market appeal but they all have the talent and artistry to back it up. Now I’m just rambling. I’ll probably be back later on with more to say to break the m o n o t o n y  o f s t u d y i n g
