And now we've got... to the end of the road... till we can't go on...

Here it is folks, the moment you've all been waiting for.

Each girl wore a beautiful white gown and had flowery garlands in their hair.  When all the guests had been seated, Billy, as well as the priest and Elijah, his best man, came through a side door and stood at the altar.  Billy was dressed in a sharp-looking tuxedo top with a pale yellow vest and a traditional black kilt.

When Billy and the other five men had reached their spots, the bagpipe player finished his song and a string quartet began playing Pachelbel Canon in D.  A young girl, no older than 5, who was Kim’s niece, led the bride’s processional and sprinkled lavender buds and white rose-petals gently down the aisle.  Then Billy’s nephew, a 10 year old dressed similarly to Billy, carried a white pillow with two rings tied to it.  Billy’s ring was a simple white gold band with an inscription which read, “To the one I adore, my soul mate, with all my love” in elvish.  Kim’s ring was a beautifully ornate white gold Celtic ring, which she had picked out when she was 17.  The guests sighed at how adorable the two children were and were amazed at the beauty of Jody’s dress as she walked gracefully down the aisle.

But the most beautiful sight was yet to come.  As Jody and the two children found their places in front of the altar, the main doors opened and the crowd stood and gasped as the angelic bride walked down the aisle.  Kim’s dress flowed behind her as her father led her up the aisle.  Billy was awestruck and could do nothing but stare at her with wide eyes.  She smiled shyly at him and took her place next to him.  Then the guests sat down and the priest began the ceremony.

The priest said the traditional speech and then asked if anyone knew a reason for why they should not be wed.  None of the guests said anything because they knew that there wasn’t a reason why to stop the marriage.  Each one of the guests agreed that Billy and Kim were perfect for each other and were happy that they finally decided to tie the knot.  “Do you, Billy,” began the priest, “take Kimberly Janice Golave, to be your lawfully wedded wife…”  Billy, and Kim when it became her turn, of course said “I do” and took Kim’s ring from the pillow and placed it on her delicate finger.  She, too, took his ring and placed it on his finger and the priest pronounced them husband and wife.  Then Billy kissed his wife and they left the cathedral together.

The reception was almost as grand as the wedding.  There were three different kinds of cake, all kinds of beverages, and a buffet of delicious Scottish and American foods.  The cakes, two chocolate and one vanilla, were stunningly decorated with frosting flowers that went up and down the sides.  The first chocolate cake, meant only for Billy and Kim, was a small, one-layer cake with light whipped frosting and striking lilies around the edges.  The other two were identical except for the flavor of cake beneath the frosting.  People enjoyed their favorite beverages from an open bar, which featured any kind of alcoholic beverage one could want, as well as non-alcoholic beverages, which ranged from juice to soda.

The buffet was huge and there was enough of each food to feed each of the guests filling first serving, as well as second and third servings.  The food ranged from barbecued sausage to grilled salmon to wedges of sandwich.  There were fruits and vegetables, cheeses and crackers, chocolates, salads, and entrees.  None of the guests left the reception hungry, and many left with more than enough leftovers to feed them for a week.  Each table was sweetly decorated with bowls of M&Ms to match the colors of the wedding and disposable cameras to take pictures with.

When all the guests had been through the processional line and had congratulated Billy and Kim, Elijah made the traditional best man’s speech and people sat down to enjoy their meals.  There was a dance floor set up and a band played all types of music as guests danced merrily over the floor.  When it was finally time for Kim and Billy to leave the reception, which had lasted for many hours, the guests congregated around the entrance of the building and threw birdseed, instead of rice, at the new bride and groom as they left for their honeymoon.  They stayed in the honeymoon suite at the nicest hotel in Glasgow and in the morning, they boarded a plane for the states, where they would then fly to Hawaii.

As they quitted the plane, Billy possessively took the hand of his beautiful young bride.  When they had retrieved their luggage and were on their way to a waiting limo, a woman greeted them and placed a lei around each of their necks.  Kim laughed.  “You’ve been leid!”

Billy looked at her quizzically.  The pun was lost on him.  “I don’ get it,” he puzzled.  He looked at his wife who laughed at him.

“Never mind,” she giggled and they made their way out of the airport and to their resort.  Their first days were filled with lounging on the beach, swimming with the hotel dolphins, and sliding down the huge water slides the hotel operated.  They drove to Hapuna beach to surf in the undulating waves, then took a helicopter tour around the island’s volcanoes.  Kim clutched Billy’s arm as they peered into the center of a huge lava flow and then circled back to their waiting limo.

“So,” she said when they were back in their huge suite, “tomorrow shall we go horse-back riding?”  Her husband looked uneasily at her.

“Kim, would you leave me if I told you I’ve never ridden a horse?  Actually, to tell you the truth, I’m kinda feart of horses.”  He winced at the face she made.  Her eyes were wide in wonder and her jaw had dropped open.  She blinked several times before she could speak.

“You’ve never ridden?”  He shook his head.  “You’re afraid of horses?”  He nodded.  “I don’t know what to say.  I am at a loss for words.  Well, I mean, I guess I should’ve noticed when you always seemed busy when I went riding.  Jeez, well, I guess we’ll just have to make it the best thing you’ve ever done.”  She smiled to herself and began formulating a plan that would make his first ride perfect.

The following afternoon, they left the hotel early and drove to a secluded ranch in the middle of the island.  Kim picked two subdued-looking mares to ride, so that Billy’s mind would be eased, and then patiently taught him how to mount his horse and use the reins.  Then they set off down the valley.  A river wound through the valley and by dinner time, they had ridden the length of the river to where it joined with the ocean.  A beautiful, deserted white-sand beach awaited them.

Kim pulled out a picnic dinner she had packed and spread a blanket out on the sand.  While their horses drank the fresh water from the river, they dined on strawberries and the sandwiches she had made.  When they had finished the sandwiches, the sun had just begun to set and Billy looked around quizzically.  “Shouldn’t we be headin’ back before the sun sets?  I mean, it might be easy for you to ride in the dark, but uh, I haven’t ever ridden before.  What if I tripped over a stump or a rock or somethin’?”

“Oh, we’re not riding in the dark,” Kim said matter-of-factly.  Billy looked even more confused at his wife’s words.  “What?  Don’t look at me like that!  If we rode back now, what on earth would we use these sleeping bags for?”  And with that she pulled a sleeping bag out of her pack.  “Oh no,” she said nonchalantly.  “It looks like I only brought one sleeping bag.  I guess you’ll just have to sleep in the sand!”  She laughed light-heartedly as Billy dove for the bag.

“Oh, no you don’!  You think I’m gonna be able to keep my hands off of you?  That won’t happen.  Not in your lifetime!  Didn’t I tell you?  When you married me, you consented to constant sex, whenever you or I want it.”  He looked down at his watch.  “It looks like it’s about sex o’clock, wouldn’t you say?”  And he showed her his watch.  Then he took her head in his hands and kissed her softly.  Slowly he began to undress her until he realized he was being watched.  Uttering a fowl oath, he sat up straight.  “Shouldn’ we probably do somethin’ about those horses?”

Kim laughed as she looked behind her and saw both horses waiting patiently near the blanket.  She got up and took both reins in her hands and tied them to a tree near the river.  Then she set about cleaning up the picnic mess until Billy could no longer keep his hands off of her.  Then they made love late into the night and fell asleep in each other’s arms, fully exhausted.

Kim woke with a start.  It was still dark out but, for some reason, she had been awakened.  Billy was still next to her, the horses were still tied up, and she was perfectly warm.  She was usually a deep sleeper, so it wasn’t likely that any noise had awakened her and she sat wondering what it was that did wake her.  Then she felt a sharp pain and knew the cause for her rude awakening.  She was having cramps like no other!  It was like an alien had gotten inside her body and was tearing her uterus apart.  It was weird.  She had never had cramps this bad before.  The pain soon subsided, however, and she was able to fall back to sleep.

When they awoke the next morning, the sun was streaming down on them from a perfectly cloudless sky.  They packed their things and Kim tried not to smile too much.  But Billy was quick to gather that something was up.  “What?” he asked her point-blank.

“What ‘what’?” she questioned innocently.  He looked at her and crossed his arms.

“I mean ‘What are you looking so happy about?’  That’s what.”  She smiled at him even broader and shrugged her shoulders.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”  Then she turned away from him and busied herself with preparing the horses.  But Billy wouldn’t give up that easily.

“I’m talking about that smile on your face.  The one that tells me you know something that I don’t.  So what is it?  What do you know that I don’t?”  She turned to face him straight on and bit her lip.

“Well,” she started slowly.  “Let’s see, how can I put this?  Last night, or this morning maybe, I woke up in the middle of the night with really bad cramps.  That got me thinking.  ‘Maybe it’s that time of the month, Kim.  Aren’t you due for a monthly visitor any time now?’  But I’m not due.  I’m overdue.  Two months overdue, actually.”  Then she smiled a wide-toothed smile at him as he looked at her with confusion written all over his face.  “Billy,” she said.  “You’re going to be a father.  I’m pregnant.”  Then she giggled lightly.

But Billy turned away quickly and Kim was a bit put-off.  “What’s wrong?” she asked worriedly.  “Aren’t you happy?”

Then he turned back toward her and she knew that he was in no way upset.  He was smiling softly and tears of happiness were falling down his cheek.  “I’m gonna be a dad?” he asked her softly.  When she nodded, he laughed a little.  “I’m gonna be a dad,” he said.  Then he picked her up off her feet and twirled her around.  At the top of his lungs, he shouted, “I’M GONNA BE A DAD!!!”

They hugged for a while and then mounted their horses and rode back to the ranch, talking excitedly about their plans for the future.  Billy and Kim found it difficult to conceal their joy over becoming parents.  But they wanted to wait until they knew for sure what gender the baby would be, so they told only their parents and best friends.

When Kim started to show in her fifth month, Billy reassured her that she looked even more beautiful than before.  He lovingly rubbed her tummy, read to her tummy, and even played his guitar and sang for the baby.  Both parents were elated and constantly smiled.  Reporters began asking them about the rumors that they might be having a child, but the two kept their mouths locked tightly, saying that they wouldn’t reveal anything until the child was actually born.

Finally, after nine long months of swollen ankles and morning sickness, Kim began to have contractions.  She called Billy at the set of his newest movie and he rushed to their hotel suite.  As he was bringing her into the hospital, her water broke and her contractions began coming faster and longer.  After two relatively pain-free hours of labor, Billy smiled down into the eyes of his new baby girl as Kim cradled her new son.  They named their twins Nicole and Aiden, respectively, and felt like the happiest couple in the world.  Then they settled down and raised their family in love.  Although usually reserved for fairy tales, it’s safe to say that they indeed lived happily ever after.
