My parents are from Leenane and I(a yank)have nearly worn my copy from years of viewing. You framed it well and it is loaded with ripe dialogue and dead on visual expression. The Bird is priceless. Beringers line "I hope you know you're breaking the law." was pure yank and harris's reply "The law?...This (raising his stick with a smile)is the law." serves as a reminder (as pointed out by my cousin while standing in my grandads field 1/4 mile from that falls scene) that after centuries of British rule laws in Ireland are viewed by most as simply advisory and not compulsory. Hurt starred in an earlier film shot in Leenane "Sinful Davey" which was to be set in Scotland and I understand that production took great advantage of the areas unmatched beauty.
