Weird Question

Not like that's anything new but here goes:

Does anyone know what the technical term is when graves or tombstones sink or rise? I ask because I'm starting work on a horror story (maybe a novel before it's all over.)

Can't find a technical term other than that tombstones "settle" over time, probably due to the freezing and thawing of the ground. I would think that a marker could also be pushed upward if the ground is unstable because of this happening repeatedly.
