Heehee! That's what everyone has been telling me... but I only get to be a naive first-time mom once so I'm going to still try to go through it without meds. Plus, I've read that both an epidural and an intrathecal cause nausea and I've always reacted very strongly to medication like that. I can't decide which would be worse - the pain or having to vomit during the entire thing. We'll see how it all goes... I might beg them for meds the second I get to the hospital. =)

Sarah, I know you can do it without the meds if you really want it...or at least give it a good try. There are lots of mothers who do it the natural way and have big, big babies at that.

I am so excited and happy for you and I hope you know that you have all the power I can give you through this. Starting a family is wonderful, and Clyde is a good man and you two inspire me.

Thanks for the support, Maura! This has been quite an experience and I can only imagine what it's going to be like once he's born. Ideally, I want a natural birth and I want Benjamin to stay in my room with me and Clyde but I know that circumstances can change so I'm going to try not to beat myself up if it happens differently. As long as we're all healthy at the end of it, I'll be glad.
