I highly recommend doing NaNoWriMo. I did it a few years back and it was just an amazing experience - you don't have time second guess yourself, so you just sort of write and write, and it's kind of this great rush. I wouldn't worry too much about Thanksgiving, either. If you write 2000 words most days (which I found pretty doable), you end up with enough leeway to do lighter days or even skip a few.
If you choose to do nanowrimo, try to attend some of the local write-ins. It's a good group of folk; that camaraderie is one of the reasons the bay area has such as high success rate. Good luck choosing your outlets. :)
I recommend signing up for the Farm Fresh to You box (take your pick of size/make-up), and then seeing it as your Iron Chef challenge for the week! You have the benefit of being able to shop ahead for things to go with your box, trying the different things that come in the box that you might not necessarily buy on their own, and having to experiment with fantastic new recipes all the while!
Idealism: I haz it. :)
Also, always remember that Davi & I did an entire wedding in 8 months...and it didn't suck! :D You'll be fine, and we are all happy to help if you need extra hands on anything.
