where street fashion blogs face off and stuff. Montreal has totally killed London and is now up against Perth. I've obviously been all objective and such. Seriously.
Yeah, tell me about it! I think 1/2 of good style is looking approachable/ relatable. Too many of these folks would look 10 000 times better if they genuinely smiled. Copenhagen and seems to have an upper hand in this department. I hope those Danes win it.
Weird that China, Japan, Sweden and Germany have no representation, though.
The fashion industry is geared to this mindset that everyone should look agressive, insular, or strung-out.
Chicago fashion is so bland. All Cubs fans, office drones, skull prints, yoga babies, and my arch-nemesis, the art-jock. The Chicago Reader did a nice job with this piece on local designers. The men's styles aren't for me, but at least they don't look like insufferable assholes (i.e., 90% of young Chicago males).
Very cool. Fashion should be more about fun and less about being austere.
And what is an "art-jock"? I had a professor/ archenemy who got injured and had to stop boxing and became an art dude who brags about setting up Nam June Paik exhibitions and puts fibre optic punching bags and pieces of Maple Leaf Gardens in galleries. We called him "coach."
