I guess the point is...red43December 7 2006, 14:07:02 UTC
- to share one's thoughts and ideas with others - to document the things that happen in our lives so we can have a good laugh about it in the years to come - to have somewhere where you can have a good rant when you need to without offending any one :) - to contacts others around the world with similar ideas/interests - to let off steam!
I like using my blog to post pictures of my friends, to ask for ideas or opinions and to share mine. I like meeting people with similar interests... And ofcourse it's important to have a place to rant without upsetting anyone.
I hadn't thought of the ranting aspect - although I frequently do! I was faced with puzzlement when I mentioned meeting like-minded people. It seems somewhat outside people's ken.
How funny - S. asked this very question on her LJ the other day (I'd link to it, but it's f-locked).
You should write what you like - literally. I try to write as much as possible about things I enjoy or love, and when I get a handle on them, it makes me happy.
I blog because I enjoy the sense of community it provides - that there's a group of vaguely like-minded individuals out there I can stay in touch with, as a reminder that I don't live on DailyMailworld, that there are plenty of decent folks about.
That summary makes good sense. I find it really hard to explain when people - especially colleagues - ask me about blogging, my reasons and so on. I'd miss LJ, though.
I have a blog as a way of recording my feelings and memories, a way to keep in touch with my friends, and also as a way of staying sane a lot of the time. Writing about things usually helps me get them into perspective.

Maybe I should stop self-censoring at times.
