Oh, how I love this story. I 'm so glad you chose to repost it. Reading the other comments, I have to agree that this comes second only to Spirit as my favorite. I never feel that I can write adequate fb for your stories, but fortunately for this one I can use a haiku :) Words are clumsy words In the hands of another. In yours? Poetry.

Of this and this alone, he could be entirely certain: that the fierce spark of will had not been quenched in Frodo. In truth, it seemed focused to greater clarity, the tighter it wound itself about a single secret.

Hmmm... I always wonder about this: wouldn't Gandalf *know* how things work, as one of the assistants of the very Creators? But he'd also want to retain the connection to mortal belief, perhaps - or shielf off unwelcome inquiry...
