And what happened after that was either:

1. The local authority was informed, who then replied that they will get to it within "the agreed time frame" after that, nothing will have happened until a police unit happened to be going that way, noticed the problem themselves and turned the lights off and on again to fix the problem.

OR

2. The job got passed out the local police area, it then sat there until a police unit happened to be going that way, noticed the problem themselves and turned the lights off and on again to fix the problem.

Doesn't it feel great to be helping the community? :-P

Well, I kind of figured that whatever I did, the most likely outcome was that it would sit on an answering machine somewhere, or something like that. Still, you can only hope. Or maybe if there was an accident, it might provide evidence that there was a problem when the roadworks contractor said "No, it was all working fine, nothing to do with us."

I've called that number twice now.

Once was to report the local Chinese buffet restaurant for letting off professional-grade fireworks in the road, and blocking off the road to do so. That was in the summer, and did mean that I got to spend time with a rather hot young PCSO who took my statement in case of court action.

The other was to report that Dad was having trouble with an acquaintance who had turned up, got wasted and was refusing to leave, loudly, shrilly and abusively. Worryingly, I haven't heard from him since then...

Ooh, I hadn't considered that use(*) for PCSOs.

It's just a shame that I couldn't edit the statement for spelling and grammar.

He was rather nice, though.
