Get someone else. Anyone else. Please.

Rowan Atkinson?
Steve Coogan?
Logan Lerman?

Obviously, Rowan Atkinson and Steve Coogan miss something... physically compared to most Batmen, but they could both out-act Orlando Bloom.

Logan Lerman has his moments. And is also very attractive. *swoons quietly* And his acting range isn't as bad as, say, Taylor Lautner. (Though they both seem to have instincts for picking terrible/formulaic films.) If you want a pretty young thing, given the current crop of actors and their, uh, limitations, you could probably do something with Zac Efron, who's unlikely to win an Oscar anytime soon, but is massively better than a lot of young, pretty actors at the moment. (Is it just me or do there seem to be a lot of far better teen/20-something women out there at the moment?)

For a bit older, there's the obvious Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is rather good. There's also my future husband Joshua Jackson, who I could imagine doing a rather decent conflicted, brooding Batman. He was a candidate the last time, when they cast Bale.

Actually, Logan and Orlando did face off against each other rather will in "The Three Muskeeteers".

And why does Bruce Wayne need to be pretty? That's what Robin is for.

Oh, he doesn't have to be. I was just musing on alternatives in the 20-something-Logan-Lerman sort of area. You probably do want him to be able to pull off something in the area of suave, playboy, perhaps hedonistic or capricious, perhaps a bit devil-may-care. And my perspective on the visual grammar of Hollywood tends to make that easier if the actor is, at least, easy on the eye, even if not a heartthrob. (Ugly, misshapen people are typically code for weirdos. Plain people aren't central characters.)

Who was the guy in the last Bourne film? Jeremy Renner, apparently. Maybe?

Apparently, when they cast Bale, they also considered Jake Gyllenhaal. And I just can't see that working.

I *only* find him cute when dressed up as Legolas. No, I'm not sure why, either.

Sexelf is sex, yes. I also quite like him when he's in his short black hair (variety of styles) and clean-shaven/hint of shadow.

His long-haired, silly-moustache/beard look doesn't really work for me at all.
