Beyond the Barricade....

My delivery from Maddie's shop (come back Maddie!!) has arrived and Mum thought that she would try it out. It was a new playpen, so that in December the Christmas Tree will not attack me.  I'm not quite sure what Mum thinks the tree will do - but she may have been watching too many Dr Who episodes.....

Anyway, Mum attached the playpen to my indoor ( Read more... )

My new brother (mummy's kit) has a playpen and he's trys to climb out, he's only just standing, so mummy is thinking on adapting it for me although I will generally have full run of the house...well as long as mummy is nearby!

When Mum's elder kit was a baby, she used to have an oval-shaped playpen. One day Mum left her in it, so she could go to the kitchen. When Mum came back, her kit had scaled the side of the playpen and was hanging half way over the edge! The play pen wasn't used after that....

How old was she? Ol is a bit off scaling the side of it, but he is just about trying to walk through it!

It's a long time ago now (almost seventeen years!) but Mum thinks about a year old.

I don't think Mum realised how high I could jump - or how determined I was to get out!

Yep, play pens are hopeless at constraining me, but they do seem to be a deterent to keep me off things.

The Chistmas tree one is an interesting point. Even saintly Robbie used to nibble the Christmas tree and there were always concerns about the Christmas lights. With me being taller when periscoping, more powerful and much, much, much more nibbly they look really worried about it. I suppose it will be a further reason to harden their disgraceful policy of banning me from the living room. THUMP. How am I going to nibble everyones presents?

I agree, the Christmas tree will be interesting this year, I feel a true battle coming between me and Mum!

I hate play pens and now have a real hissy fit if I'm put in mine. At the moment it stops me getting behind the tv but know it will be moved for the tree. Bring it on!

What is a hissy fit like? They tried it on me last night and I ran around shaking the cage bars. Found I could actually move the cage across the room if I had the patience. I then did a wee on the carpet, despite having my litter tray inside. Eventually I launched myself over the top of the cage and onto the arm of the forbidden sofa! Two crimes for the price of one - hehehehehe.

Fantastic well done Freddie, that sounds like a hissy fit to me, pesky play pens! Sounds like had a successful evening!

Freddie, I had a good go at moving the playpen too. I found that if I gripped it with my teeth and gave it a really good shake.... I could rearrange the layout!

We've never jumped out of ours and I know Maddie and her family go out in theirs on the patio most days and have never jumped out either. Ask your mum to drape a dark sheet or towel over the top and as you get used to it, you'll soon lose the urge to leap out. As for us Frenchies, as adults we're just too big and heavy to be bothered about jim-nastics!

I can leap as high as the playpen! No problems does that mean I'm still little?
