When Mac and Fitz were together, there was a lot they only did with one hand. Handing each other things, touching each other's arm, eating popcorn from the same bowl, Fitz reaching out for Mac when he was falling into the pit of darkness. But when Mac raised from that very hole again, alive, one arm slung around Phil's shoulder, one arm hanging limp at his side, Fitz cupped his face with both hands, one hand shaking desperately, and he never let go again.
They're remembered - forevermore, a tale for the ages, constantly retold, always relevant, a touching tale of friendship-love-admiration-devotion-absolution-sacrifice; reborn with each page that turns, going through the motions as if it were a play, the ending always in sight, always known, an unavoidable force of nature that they welcome with open arms, if only because it means that they'll be together again in death, waiting in timeless bliss until the next showing.
