Get Firefox. To get it without a browser, use FTP, as follows:

1) Start -> Run -> type ftp
2) At the ftp> prompt, type open ftp.mozilla.org
3) A bunch of stuff will print, then it'll ask for a username. Type anonymous
4) It'll ask a password. Give it your email address.
5) Type cd /pub/firefox/releases/3.5.7/win32/en-US
6) Type get "Firefox Setup 3.5.7.exe" (the quotes are mandatory)
7) Type bye to disconnect

The installer will probably end up in your documents folder. Execute it, and it'll install firefox.

Once you've got firefox, there are free online virus scanners you can use. Don't know any off the top of my head, but Google is your friend.

Good luck!

And if you're coming back into the city tomorrow, I can take a few heroic passes before I shrug my shoulders and give up.

I invested in Norton Antivirus to head off this kind of thing - all sorts of viruses (virii?) floating around facebook.

If you're free Sunday afternoon - Evening, or Monday, I might be able to come over and get you a least partially fixed.
