So I know what the games are. Besides a way to deflect my worries about money, they are a false sense of achievement. When I am truly doing well, they don't absorb me like this. Even worse, for some reason I don't think while I play. When I read, I think. Oh, its somewhere unconscious. But I know its there, because when I am done I feel different. ( Read more... )

I think the key to your overall message up above is the small phrase "baby steps". You were never one to take baby steps, or tiptoe into a pool, or cautiously approach anything. You flung yourself into everything you did with full enthusiasm and wild abandon. It always amazed me that you could do it so, since I was the one who was only able to do anything by following baby steps. Suddenly, for some reason, you've lost your enthusiasm. I'm hoping, beyond hope, that that enthusiasm is starting to return with circumstances the way they are now. I tend to preach baby steps, but in your case, I would say just the opposite. turn off that computer if you have to, unplug it, store it in a closet, and throw yourself back into life, back into exploring the possibilities and the wonder of it,the way you used to. if you have trouble getting started find one project and give it your all, and I truly believe that enthusiasm will return.
