It's all a bit much

I feel very sad about the continuing devastation in Japan. Definitely too early, at least in my head, to turn this into an argument against nuclear power - or for that matter, ass-covering on nuclear power (it isn't that bad! No one has died from radiation poisoning - yet!). And I say that as a lifelong opponent of nuclear power. Just rescue ( Read more... )

I think it's the 24hr news cycle. There's is no letup on ABC24 for those of us with emotions. I heard men on the radio this evening saying "it doesn't affect me directly, so why should I care?" (and this was 774, not Alan Jones). I can't believe anyone could think it doesn't matter.

I still like the moon forces theory about the earthquakes.

I think it is the 24 hour news cycle too. Which doesn't make it any less awful for the Japanese.

PS: Still not talking to your bloody brother. I would be very happy to debate with him whether the quagmire of Vietnam outweighed the huge progressive social changes LBJ enacted on the domestic front. But his scorn is not worth my dealing with. ;-)
