Does anyone have a copy of the first Golden Compass book? I'd like to read it prior to the movie coming out.

Hmm, are you still living with Brandi and Jessica? Were you ever living with Brandi and Jessica?

Alternatively I can just pick it up in the evening hour one day.

Yes I'm still living with them at the library. I'll be home after ~9:30 tomorrow and for more of the evening on Thurs. Or I can arrange a transfer through them if that's easier. But it would be fun to see you!

ack ack ack ptooie. I spit on Philip Pullman and the über-condescending tone in his writing! (The story is entertaining, though. I would just never give it to children. There's more reader-challenging drivel in Nancy Drew books...)

But, but, but... Talking Anthropomorphic POLAR BEAR!

Seriously though, I just wanted to read the first book. I promise I will not pass them on to children like some sort of illicit substance.

good. it's one of my mini life missions to keep Pullman away from children. Even Anderson & Brothers Grimms' fairy tales are more challenging! (after finishing His Dark Materials, I now understand why kids are doing so poorly in school. IT'S THE AUTHORS' FAULTS! Writing down instead of up, sheesh. Captain Underpants indeed.)
