Those with money should be allowed to pay for better service. A government funded/run system will never be able to compete with a privately funded/run organisation in terms of the service offered.

The "billing OHIP" bit is slightly beyond me as I`m not sure how your system works. It sounds like the private clinic will effectively be billing the tax-payers which can't be right... I`ll just stick with my original statement.

OHIP stands for ontario health insurance plan...our version of NHS.

my understanding is that OHIP is paying for the services, and allows the clinic 50 patients.

However, patients are paying an exorbitant amount to be one of those 50 patients.

I think it's completely unfair. It seems to almost scream out 'if you don't have money, your life is less valuable'.

I honestly would rather they just raise taxes and give the extra cash to health care. at least then everyone has a fair chance.
