Yet another Hikago drabble... I should really work on some Gakuen Alice, shouldn't I?

En Passant
They sit across from one another in solemn silence. A suffocating tension looms over the pair, intensifying with each hand. Eyes dilate in state of absolute concentration; between them, a wooden grid board-a game board.
The strings snap and a war ensues.
First; a knight.
Counters; a bishop.
Protecting; a rook.
Check; a queen.
A boy leans back and rakes a hand through his mop of blond. He sighs in part satisfaction. "What would we do without chess?"
The other looks up. "It doesn't matter."
And it does not.
Because they are eternal rivals, whatever game they play.
---
En passant refers to a special pawn move in the game of chess. All pawns are regulated to move two squares on their first move. With the en passant rule, a pawn is permitted to capture an enemy's pawn (after moving two squares) as if it has only moved one.
Comments and constructive criticism are lovely and appreciated~! :)
Just a light-hearted drabble, written from whim and playing on a Hikago canon. There seems to be a slight absence of anything Hikago lately...
I forgot to mention it earlier, but
here is a drabble written by the lovely
svz_insanity. The only criteria was to include a Japanese biwa as a sort of 'theme'.
