Tyki on Love

Family

Family is important to Tyki. But as he's been in the DR the concept of family has gotten pretty complicated to him. For example, Road is family. But there are twenty Roads running around, and the plain fact is they can't all be as important as each other. One of them has to be more family than the rest, even if he loves them all. People get shuffled into tiers of family to him, from closest to most distant. And there may be a few Noah he doesn't consider to be family at all.

The closest to his heart are dreamsofnoah and solo_insanity. He considers Road his above all others and while he doesn't mind sharing her with other Tykis (they can spoil her while he dodges off for a smoke and a nap) she means more to him than any other Road likely ever will. There is literally nothing he would not do for her if she needed him to. That's not to say there's plenty he wouldn't do if she just asked, but if she needed it or were in trouble, he'd figure out how to make the impossible possible just for her. Her death or harm befalling her would make him tear down the place brick by brick to get at the culprit, though she's also one he trusts more than almost anyone to be able to take care of herself in a crisis.

On the same level of importance is solo_insanity. Tyki is not innately fond of other Tykis like he is of Roads. Sometimes he likes them, sometimes he doesn't. Oddly enough he started off not really impressed by Solo, but they just kept meeting. And long story short, Solo wormed his way into Tyki's heart above all the other people in the DR except Road. There isn't exactly a word to describe what Solo is to Tyki, but Tyki loves him as much as he loves Road. He trusts Solo more than he trusts anyone, and while there are things he might not talk to Road about, Solo he can just talk to about most anything. For better or worse he also listens to what Solo has to say and generally agrees with or considers the man's opinions on things. Even though it's only been a bit over a year, and they have their disagreements and tense moments, the end result is Tyki cannot imagine a world without the other man any more than he can imagine a world without Road. It wouldn't be worth it. If he ever thought about it the level of attachment would scare the fuck out of him for how vulnerable it makes him if anything happened to the other man, how devastating it would be to him, but he fortunately doesn't give it any thought. Solo just exists and that makes the world right.

Now there's a lot more family that mean things to him! They just aren't quite as world-shatteringly important to Tyki as the above two. That doesn't mean he doesn't love them and get angry if they're hurt. He does. Especially for those he considers are from his world--itisasillyplace, halfcocked, demoneyewisdom are all incredibly important to him because he considers them specially his. nightshined, failingfelicity and hedonisticwoman also hold special places in his heart. He's fond of many other Noah of varying shapes and sizes that he's met. Road, in whatever form, makes him care for her. Even innocent_voodoo, an Exorcist, has his befuddled affection. If someone hurt any of these people he'd tear their heart out happily. In the occasional face of Eaze's that show up, Tyki treats them with the same fondness, affection, and protectiveness of any of his Noah family.

Some special cases that he cares for but confuse him are marreddreams and eveningmoonfall. For Marred, circumstances conspired against him and left her rather unhappy with him. He's not sure he'll ever make it up to her, but he cares for her all the same. He'd worry more about her, but after seeing how she interacts with Solo he figures she has someone at least. If someone hurt or attacked her he'd be there for her but otherwise he isn't always sure what to do for her, even if she's still family to him. Alex is an odd case. While there are a few 14ths he doesn't mind (like dermusiker) Alex is the only one he genuinely sees as a brother. Alex is crazy, fun, a Noah, but his own man as well. Tyki respects him and enjoys his company. How Alex's memories will change things is yet to be seen, but for now Alex is still in the category of family to him.

Friends

He has a lot of friends! They shape his perceptions of the world, whether he realizes it or not. latenightmoon has been his longest friend in the DR and has her own category. But people like notpapa and lastnightswish have a pretty big impact on him and his actions and reactions to the world around him. For a long time Bookman was sort of his substitute white life family in the DR. Actions in the Horror Hall changed that dynamic, to the point Tyki ceased seeing the redhead as a brother--but his affection for Bookman was enough to leave Bookman alive after something that would have earned the death of someone he cared for less. Granted he still tried to kill the man, and their relationship has never quite regained what it was as far as Tyki is concerned, but he still enjoys the man's company and likes him, even if he has shifted out of the family category. If anyone can reason with Tyki to be, well, reasonable, Bookman generally has a good chance of it. Kandalady is another odd one. While Kandas don't interest him much usually save for provoking, she ended up being a rather calming influence on him. This doesn't always work, especially with his more unstable moods. But usually his innate affection for her shields her from his more violent tendencies--not entirely, but enough to keep her alive so far. She has a strange habit of both calming him down and provoking him. He finds her intriguing, and despite his general sexism towards any female not in his family, he tends to take her words with a bit more weight.

He has other friends that mean various things to him. But in general his affection for friends is a bit more transitory than that for family. He may miss them when they leave, he may wish them well or even help them, but when they're no longer around their loss would not shape him.

Romance

Yes yes, I don't play relationships. But it's worth noting that Tyki still likes a good tumble between the sheets. While I tend to headcanon he meets his needs with NPCs, he is not a romantic man. Or that is to say, he's no prince charming. He can be romantic enough in the moment, but he has commitment issues out the wazoo. He'll run like it's a marathon at the hint of settling down. He wants to have fun. He doesn't want to have a relationship. He doesn't do romantic love. That said he's a bit in love with latenightmoon.

It's not very selfless love. Part of it is wanting the happiness she and Mikk have. A desire/envy/curiosity state of affairs. Part of it is the forbidden fruit effect--she's out of his reach and therefore she's desirable. Part of it is really genuine true affection for her and attraction. Of all the Allens he knows she's one of the most intriguing and has helped shaped him and his ideas and goals. He admires her will and strength, he cares for her and feels sorrow when she dies. And while he could probably leave on a grand adventure with Solo and Road and never regret it, he would miss her now and then. She's not the only woman he wants to sleep with in the DR, he finds plenty of them attractive, payingrespects and nightshined for example, but she's the only one for whom his attraction is complicated. Klaud would be a fun lay, and Bird he would have no problems separating how he feels as family and how he's attracted to her. For Allie, it's all mixed up. And let's not forget he still wants to kill her--in a way just another part of his lust.

Sexuality

I've essayed a little on his orientation. The truth is the idea of being with a guy still wigs him out. It's weird and disturbing. But as it is there is at least one, maybe two men, he's now subconsciously attracted to. He may never figure that out, and if he does it'll be hard as hell for him to reconcile--he may end up repressing it entirely rather than trying to work it out.
