The sleepily innocent look on her face subtly changed once she saw who it was, something flashing across her features like expectations fulfilled before she turned on her heel and trod back inside, obviously expecting him to follow. It wasn't before she'd made a nest for herself out of her bedcovers and settled there that she said, "I've been waiting for you."

He followed her into the room, closing the door and smiling at her gently. "Sorry I'm late." He apologized, sitting down next to her and drawing his feet up under him, looping an arm around her shoulders and ruffling her already sleep-tossed hair.
"I got lost, helping a little old lady cross the street." Such a lie of an excuse, and nothing to do with why he was here.

"Hmm, did she turn out to be a mean old lady and beat you and steal your shoes?" she asked, hands latching on to his shirt in a way that was at odds with her playful tone. "Is that why it took you so long?"
Because she hadn't been lying when she'd said she was waiting for him. She'd expected him before then, had hated all that time where she'd had to wait and do nothing because she'd promised Solo she wouldn't do anything about this without him.
...of course Solo had meant himself, but for just this once Road could pretend that one Tyki was capable of standing in for the other.

But he wasn't here just to spend quality time with her, and he question made his smile fade. "I'm sorry." He said again, offering no real excuse for his procrastination. It wasn't that he didn't feel the same, but he'd needed time to think about it. He couldn't afford to rush off blind on this one. He knew the woman. He wanted her to suffer in the worst way possible, and until he decided what that was, he couldn't go to Road.
But he thought he had an idea, now. But he wanted to know what Road wanted, before he proposed his own plan.
"What do you want to do about our problem, love? I don't think just any punishment will do. It needs to be something special."
