This also goes for storytelling.

As much as people think I'm an engaging storyteller, I recorded myself reading some fiction, and I felt that I sounded absolutely hideous! Nasal, whiny, monotonic, etc.

After several tries, it sounded much better, but it was the equivalent of having to put on stage makeup. Up close, it looks absolutely ridiculous, but to a third party, it's what's necessary to make it sound "correct".

I'm with elo_sf, never heard a recording of my voice that I thought sounded even a) remotely like me and b) good. Hell, I don't like listening to voice messages I've recorded for that very reason. You are to stop beating up on yourself, young lady, you have a gorgeous, lush, awesome voice.

The growth you are exhibiting really knocks me on my ass. Go, you. (And go to Boulder Creek March 25-28, puh-leeze? I guarantee you will love it.)

*hugs*
