Oooh. Painful, tragic, gorgeous, and ending with that harsh acceptance of hard reality. I hope you write so much more with these characters so I can slurp up every word.

God I...I don't have words. This was somewhere between poetry and fic and several of the moments I most wanted to see but didn't get in the film. Charles and Angel, wanting to give all other mutants what he never had, wow. Then Moira and the boys at the hospital...Charles calling out for Raven... I'm broken but in the best possible way.

Also I've been throwing Ani DiFranco songs at mixes like crazy lately, she's just amazing. Fantastic lyric choices!

Reading this made me really happy - when I was writing the fic, I actually tried to invent scenes that would have worked as a 'missing scene' in the context of the movie, since the script really didn't have much room for characterization / character development in the female cast - which is a real shame, because those characters have a ton of potential.

Thanks for your comment. :)

When she leaves, the heels of her boots are clacking on the linoleum floor like the faint rattle of gunfire in the distance.
I love the last line. I like how you portrayed them at the moment that defines them; Emma's submission and waiting, Raven maturing, Angel changing her mind (and ooh, Charles is lovely, and the symbolism with the exit sign), and Moira's reflection.

These are wonderful and aggressive and dangerous women. I love the way that they are all poised between waiting and moving on, but there's no doubt at all that the choice is their own.
