LOL.

That was an anomalous appearance, IIRC.

It would be interesting to go back and see how deep The Pats made it into the AFC playoffs outside of that year.

We didn't have the greatest postseason history prior to Robert Kraft buying the team.

Back in the AFL days we lost to the Chargers 51-10 in the Championship following the 1963 season.

In '76 we were a wildcard and in '78 we were the AFC East Champions, losing our first games.

Then of course...the Bears in '85.

Then we had Parcells and Kraft. Lost to the Browns, then we played the Packers, then we had a few years of mediocrity under Carroll, and now we're where we are.

The loving is beautifully awful. :)

The turnaround really seemed to start during the Parcells regime. I still remember Pete Carroll, although mostly his brief tenure with The Jets.

It should be interesting to see what happens with Carroll when and if he returns to the NFL.

You can probably tick off the number of successful college to pro transitions on one hand.
