ooh good. yeah, you'd notice if they slipped a metal one in there. much harder to spot the difference between blunted blade and sharp blade backstage!
I can only imagine what that does to one's confidence onstage though.

Holy crow! I'm glad he is all right, but you know how my mind works. I can't help but think "Cut your throat!" will replace "Break a leg!" as the new wish for good luck. I bet a lot of actors will be checking their own props after hearing about this, instead of leaving it to someone else.
