Erika, the Venice canals are just a block or so from the ocean, as you probably know, Venice is between Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica. The canals are very well hidden unless you know how to get there. The canals are between Washington Blvd. and Venice Blvd. If you drove west on Washington Blvd. and turned right on Dell, just a block from the ocean, that would take you right over the canals.

Does your dad live there? It seems like such a cool place to live in :)

No, my dad doesn't live there but his longtime (25 years) girlfriend, Joan, has a "party house" in the canals. Joan lets Clint and I stay there when we are in L.A., as she doesn't live in the house. My dad lives in Bellflower, in the house my grandparents built in 1939 and next door to where I grew up.

Lo, it was a beautiful clear day that day. Kind of a miracle, because the forecast was for rain!

Merry Christmas Lori....
