I saw a few in Hamilton, but I used to see more where I previously lived in Ennis, MT because I lived out in an open, sagebrushy area where the houses were spread apart. Bluebirds like open space, somewhat away from people. They also shy away from aggressive birds, so places that attract a lot of birds such as ponds and rivers, usually the bluebirds stay away from.
Look for them on fenceposts as you drive along open pastures and fields. They take your breath away when you see them, they are the loveliest shade of blue.
