That's exactly what I told Gordon, my husband. It probably wouldn't have changed the outcome of the race, but that idiot ride by a guy who was far from relaxed took any chance away from the horse to do well. Total panic mode...
In addition to fighting the horse for the first part of the race, he was sooo determined to keep him outside that he forced the issue, thus giving up the ground that you mentioned.
Going cold turkey on the Winstrol didn't help matters any either... bad moves by all concerned. At least the horse was smart enough not to hurt himself.

It's too bad it had to happen that way, but the pressure got to Kent despite the fact Kent (and the horse!) seemed totally calm pre-race.

Thanks for commenting, and though I have been pretty quiet during this Triple Crown series due to the fact that I wasn't there this year to blog first hand, I feel like I need to follow up with another blog entry to summarize this whole debacle. Will do so soon.
