Yesterday, our domain controller (which is also our main file server) took a dump. I went into the server room to see a big ugly RAID BIOS warning message, indicating one of the drives in the array could no longer be found. I need to get down some of the ideas for the U5 that have been floating around in my head. I am going to move Apache, Subversion, PostgreSQL, and Dancer off my workstation, chalupa, so it can be relieved of those duties. The Dancer move will be straightforward. Richard and Jason's prodding convinced me to boot up the Sparc U5. It worked! The network came up, at a good old static ip (192.168.1.2). We could ssh in. We set up a getty on ttyS1, so we can connect to the serial console with minicom. We added it to the network infrastructure, so it has a hostname and a DHCP-assigned static. I just got back from driving Katy and Sean to the airport. It's way too early to be awake. Not only awake, but with a complete lack of tiredness. Hopefully I'll get tired soon.

It's like death by a thousand paper cuts. I keep tweaking the template. I'm not sure if the changes I'm making are helpful or not, but maybe if I keep doing more, it will turn out ok.

Update: I think I have done all the tweaking I want to do for now. Except maybe changing the image in the header... but the rest seems ok. I think.
