A few years ago, one of my neighbors released half a dozen or so goldfish into the pond in our backyard, in hopes that they would eat some of the mosquito larvae and make our yard a little less unpleasant. Of course, we promptly got yelled at for introducing new species into a protected wetland, but whatever... no one really thought they'd survive ( Read more... )

When I read on the news that a new, aggressive form of goldfish is poised to take over the nation's water supplies: I will recall this.

I need more normal sleep hours.

Heh. Apparently this is pretty normal... they can more or less hibernate if the water they're in is deep enough. There was at least one large school last year, but there are a LOT more this year.
