I've finished a first cutting of Shrew, which I'm pretty happy with. So now I'm digging into the research (which is constantly making me second guess my cutting).
Kit (our dramaturg) gave me a stack of books (already flagged, hooray!) to add to my own stack, and I have tasked myself the goal of working through two books a day.

"Neo-feminist directrix Carin Bratlie's fauxmanshippy, retro-radical rendition of Taming of the Shrew was a great disappointment. Her anti-chauvinist spin on Petruccio left an audience of hide-bound trutraditional Shakesphiles weeping into their coifs, while her self-despising misogynistic anti-vagdom turned Kate into the 'Shrew' of the title. Read a book about Shakesy' true intents, "Ms." Bratlie! Two stars and a carp."
