I had a great time. Easy ride in to the Excel after deciding against Google's suggestion of riding through central London and instead using the M25 the way it was intended to be used - A303, M3, M25, A2, Blackwall Tunnel, Excel. About 3 hours door to door and a nice secure car park at the hotel so I could leave the panniers on the bike ( Read more... )

I had a good time, too, only marred by the loss of my best rain jacket, which I probably lost on Wwednesday but didn't notice until I came to pack on Sunday night only to find it wasn't in the wardrobe where I thought it was. I'm pretty sure I left it at the China Palace but two phone calls and a promise to call back turned up a blank.

Sorry to miss saying goodbye but the coat hunt took so long that our taxi arrived before we had time to get back into the Fan Village. I did discover why one of our meet-ups went awry, however, as there was a spoken text on my home phone which said 'I'm with Carl in the bar' - unfortunately I'm not sure who it was from or when it was sent.

See you soon.

I guessed you'd had to go straight to your train. I hung out with Elaine and Jules until it was time to leave, then got drenched on the M25. Better ride home on Tuesday, though windy, and I had to go on to Taunton after I unloaded to go to the bank. However, new car acquired and I will probably take photos tomorrow and post about my new baby. :)

I am really sorry I did not get to see you. I kept a lookout, but had trouble spotting people I see all the time, let alone folks I haven't seen in several years. Glad you had a good time. If you do come to the con in Spokane, please let me know -- we should just set up a meeting time for coffee or lunch or something.

I saw you across the crowded room at the SFWA reception. We were on opposite sides of the nibbles table but you looked to be deep in conversation with the person you were sitting with. I was hanging out with Ann Leckie and Heather Lindsley. I saw you get up but you must have left then as I couldn't find you in the room and never managed to spot you anywhere else. I didn't see you at the CW party/signing either.

Yes, we'll have to make an appointment to meet if I make it to Spokane. :)

Ack! I was actually at the CW party briefly too. Well, lesson learned. We'll make a date next time. :-)

(We ended up leaving the reception to get dinner -- alcohol + empty stomach = bad combo.....)

Hah, someone made the comment that once you spot someone you get sensitised to seeing them and see them everywhere. That seemed to be the case, that I spotted a few people lots of times and some people I didn't see at all. I only encountered Bear as I was on my way out of the Excel to go home on Monday. However, I shall be at EasterCon next year and that should be easier to spot people! :)
