For what it is worth, my own father, suffering from dementia (though it was old age rather than Alzheimer's - he was 89)settled easily into the nursing home. He seemed perfectly happy and wss convinced my mother, who had died ten years before, was still with him. He recognised me and my brother and Ina - sorta - but was perfectly happy. I hope that the same thing happens with your father.

Thanks. I'm pretty sure he'll be fine, as I was almost convinced I could have left him there last time. As long as someone's letting him know what he's supposed to be doing, he's fine. As he often wanders round here asking where 'everyone else' is, I suspect he'll be fine with lots of other people. I think he already thinks he's surrounded by 'familar strangers' anyway.
