random thoughts

Well, I'm back from a week on Nantucket celebrating my first anniversary. I can't believe I've been married a year. Here are some random thoughts on some very "guy" themes.

1. Softball: You'd think after playing in the league for seven years I'd be better at catching the ball. You'd think so - but you would be wrong.

2. Baseball: Sadly, I ( Read more... )

Dude, other than a couple of series with the Yankees the Red Sox play the Orioles and DRays like a bazillion times. It's almost impossible to see them hacking up the division lead.

I saw in the Post on Sunday that the Sox actually had a decent record since the All-Star break, but the Yankees have been en fuego. Oddly, the Yanks lost two series, both to the O's (?) and lost four games to the O's, only 2 to the rest of the AL. Bizarre.

I think the Yanks will lose a game or two in the standings before the Sox come to the Stadium, but if it stays at four games and they Yanks win that series, look out ...

The Yankees have been a strange team this year - but I guess that's why baseball has a 162 game schedule. It's hard to panic when your team has the best record in baseball, and I think the Yankees will get the wild card. I honestly think anyone could come out of the AL playoffs - each team is flawed in some way and it will come down to who gets hot.

  1. Red Sox: We were up in Boston this past weekend and got to the game on Saturday. Although I contemplated hanging myself in the 4th inning, my complete lack of faith was rewarded in the 5th. If you only get to see one Red Sox game a year, that one wasn't bad.

I figure if everyone just pretends that Gagne isn't on the roster, things will work out fine.

  2. Austin: If you like live music, especially alt-country, you will be very happy. It is almost impossible to not find a great band playing on any given day of the week. There is also good Mexican food. If you like that sort of thing, you will be very happy.

  3. Happy Anniversary to you both.

1. We tried to go Sunday but they wanted over a hundred dollars for standing room tickets which is patentily ridiculous. You saw a great game!

2. I'm sure it will be fun - and I may never have a chance to go to Austin again.

3. Thanks. We ate the cake last night which was... better than expected for year old cake.

I think you've been having that conversation with men. With women, we focus on the fact that a bunch of men (many of whom are married or have girlfriends) are going to see a bunch of naked women dance. So then, the conversation turns into one on morality.

Putting aside morals (quite easy for me), I think it's funny that a bunch of men pay women to strip. I think it's funnier that they are paying money on a plane ticket so they can watch women strip in Austin. Men are silly. :)

My old stripper roommate from law school used to dance in Austin. She said that all the women were lesbians and were coked up. Then again, that was the 90's.

Actually, the bachelor is not comfortable with strip clubs which is why we're going to Austin instead of Vegas or Montreal. I'm sure we'll end up in one at some point, but we've got a bunch of other cool stuff planned for the wekeend.

When do you have a stripper roomate in law school? I'm quite sure I would have remembered that!
