You know, I'd think a lifelong Red Sox fan would lightly use the word "chokes." Manning did throw for 402 yards and 3 TDs, after all. Manning didn't lose the fumble that kept the Chargers from getting knocked out early. Sometimes, a team just isn't good enough.

For example, I don't think that Tony Romo choked, even though the Cowboys lost and Romo was famously spotted in Mexico canoodling with Jessica Simpson (no accounting for taste). As a team Dallas may have been a bunch of prima donna glamour boys who lost their focus, but I don't blame Romo for that. If Crayton runs out his pass pattern on 3rd down at the end of the game, I think Dallas wins.

With Gates, LT and Rivers hurting it is really setting up nicely for the Patriots.

I was not being serious --- I have a lot of respect for Manning as a player (although less for Manning as a corporate shill).

The word choked was merely being used because it worked well with my Haiku. Call it Poetic License,if you will.

I am relieved that the Pats don't have to play the Colts again for a lot of reasons - not the least of which being the hype the goes along with Pats/Colts.

Fair enough - I did give you bonus points for the haiku, after all :D I would have thought that all the years of Yankees-Red Sox hype would have inoculated you against Patriots-Colts hype. I was hoping for a rematch because I thought the Colts were the better test for the Patriots, and if they're going to run the table I wanted it to be as glorious as possible. I might have suggested "Manning sad again" or even just "Manning disappointed." But then again, it wasn't my muse :)

Who is the Pats' backup QB, anyway?

Sigh. "Manning disappoints" - in order to maintain the proper structure, of course :D
