A piece of Russia

I remember I promise to post here some russian photos from my travelling throught my country. I'm going now to fulfil my promise, I'll post some photos from my journeys to Rostov, Saratov, Samara and some other russian cities and villages. I hope you'll enjoy it.

What did you know about Russia?

Only few hours drive from us we have a gorgeous piece of wild nature on the bank of Don. There are shadowy green forests and sunlit meadows. Some flats are flooded by the overflow river in Spring.

There are a lot of pretty wooden country houses, rich decorated and bright.  But they're not always in good conditions.

From the past times kazaks settled in many places along the Don river, so their culture is wide spread here, and some traditions are still alive in small villages. There are also many museums that exhibit many examples of their culture. i'm not a fan of its but I find it curious. One of the centres of that traditions is Serafimovich, a small town that was inhabit by kazaks from the very early times and they still respect their folk-customs. The picture from its museum shows all the stuff that was used by kazaks in their everyday life. Some of that things are very curious - for example - if you see that iron instrument in the centre of the table - these are pliers used to wave the moustache. (Well Kazaks were very proud of their big and waved moustaches)

This mosaic picture is from the same museum  - it is made by one of the local craftsman used the fragments of beaten crockery.

There are numerous monasteries in our region. Usually they're situated in very beautiful places on the banks of rivers and they also has some hystorical past.

There are also some hystorical places here - for example, an old campanile which is I think about 200 years old.
That pic is not my, taken by  eglantier_re

And also some locas here ( by   eglantier_re

Another nature sights, that I would strongly recommend to see are forests and rivers in the bottomland of Tsaritsa river.

What's about another regions...One of the cities that I liked was Samara, it has many examples of old merchant architecture. Our city on the contrary has only few buildings that could survive the Stalingrad Battle.
