* I still find Connie's death to be the most emotionally affecting one of everything I've seen yet (this is the opinion of someone who has not seen past 8.06 and kind of dreads doing so) -- and I'm not saying many of the others aren't very. Just that Connie's could have been purpose-built to hit every button I have as regards death scenes. I am very fond of Neil Cross scripts; he and my narrative-id get on well.
* Speaking of which... 6.08, 6.08. This is the episode that launched me into wondering about Harry/Ros and it really, really hasn't gotten less so. His outstanding officer. HIS OUTSTANDING OFFICER. And the way she yells right back at Adam but folds like a card table the minute he gets up in her face -- which I know doesn't sound healthy, exactly, but. It's his opinion that means a damn thing to her. And... the thing that gets me about the not!death scene, almost more than anything else, is that he doesn't look away from her. Not once. He doesn't shut his eyes, and he doesn't turn away. And then S7 comes along and she's Section Chief and they are having all these Very Intense Tones Of Voice and that amazing broccoli moment where he puts her on to Connie as the mole and let's not even talk about him showing up at her hotel room in 7.02 and, uh... see icon, okay, and I also sort of love the glorious trainwreck that is Ros and Adam, but, uh, I think it's time I stopped pretending I don't kink on these two? Whatever. I'm polyshippish. With a daddy/girl authority-figures approval-kink. And I would totally blame it on Peter Firth and his weirdass freak chemistry, but Harry-Zoe and Harry-Jo f'rex are scrupulously nonsexual, so possibly it's selective freak chemistry?
* Ros and Adam, though. Oh, Jesus. The subtitle for S6 should be "Fun With Repetition Compulsion" -- at least for the good bits. (And there are a lot of good bits! I mean, yes, they're still learning how to arc plot, but the good bits are SO much better than their reputation, and there are one or two episodes that are amazing for reasons having to do with things other than my kinks, and holy SHIT who knew Miranda Raison could DO THAT.) And they're both just lost and fucked-up and totally missing each other throughout these huge and tragicomic and fucking doomed attempts at reliving these defining aspects of their respective pasts, and... as a couple, they don't work. They come damned close in some ways, but they don't work, and, just -- the underlying message of Adam/Ros is, attraction sometimes isn't enough. Camaraderie and fondness and shared experience and something that could be love given a chance it's never going to get... sometimes aren't enough. Especially when both parties have one or two mental issues and a fuckload of baggage.
* That doesn't mean I don't want All the Porn, though. At least, all the porn that ACKNOWLEDGES the issues and the baggage and the not-working. Or that I don't love the documented canonical evidence that Ros is capable of cuddling.
* Also, personal canon? Juliet was the one who shopped Ros to Yalta. Because the water torture might be standard recruitment procedure for all I know, but Sholto is hitting far too many of her buttons in the scenes after that not to be working on inside information from someone who met her when she was Daddy's little girl.
* ZAF NOOOOOES. No, I don't really have any deeper opinion than that. ZAF I LOVE YOU I MISS YOU COME BAAAAACK. DON'T BE DEAD. (Also there are massive fucking plot holes surrounding the circumstances of his alleged canonical death -- not least being that the last time we saw him he had a gunshot wound and FUCKING PLAGUE and did not look likely to live out the afternoon much less survive to be sold on down the line -- but oh, well.)
* Also, seriously, I hope Ben's hookup with Jo was FUCKING ASTONISHING, because dear god, did it screw up his life.
* Lucas North continues to fuck with my sexuality while being very obviously not that into any activity that involves prolonged physical contact with other humans. That's kind of an achievement. (Also, dear god, his lack of chemistry with Ros in 7.05 is an achievement. I mean, they look right together and they have the obvious physical mannerisms down, but there is no spark whatsoever.)
