Cancerous

Calling all friends and friends of friends and aquaintences.  I need a favour.  A colonoscopy discovered that my grandpa has cancer.  So I need lots of prayers and thoughts and begging to all dieties and whatever it is you do when a really great person is in trouble.  He's going to go under the knife and probably have some chemo.  So far I've only ( Read more... )

My prayers and hope go to you. I assume your grandpa is fairly young, probably a little older than me. Cancer is a very survivable disease, my recent experience notwithstanding, so have hope. It all depends on what kind, where it is, and how it has spread. Mark had a very large, diffuse tumor mass. My mother had colon cancer 20 years ago, she turns 87 this year. if they discovered it during a routine colonoscopy it’s fairly early, and very treatable, one of the most treatable in fact. They will remove some of his colon and the surrounding lymph nodes. From biopsy they will determine the extent. If it hadn’t got to a lymph node they may not do chemo.

If he does have to do chemo for god’s sake score the man some weed, seriously.

Thank you for everything you just said. Especially tahnk you for the info about your mom. I really appreciate everything. I have two exams to do, and then a presentation Tuesday, after that I'm driving home (about an hour) to see them until my class Thursday from 6-9. Cale's birthday is Friday but he says he's not going to celebrate until next week because he's got so much homework on top of the homework I have. I really an't think clearly so I'll talk to you later.

I'll send some good vibes your way.

I have a strong, young grandpa too, and he's been through a heart problem, but he's totally okay. Humans are more resilient than we tend to think.

Thanks for the good vibes. Actually he's 72 and diabetic and just looks miserable.
